May 2002 Bike of the Month brings us yet another fabulous NSR 250 from Southern California. The owner Charles Pham has built himself one great bike.

The first thing to be noticed is the incredible paint and bodywork. Tyga Performance is responsible for all this with their latest GP seat and beautifully finished in Daijiro Kato's AXO colored bodywork.

The upper cowl is from Heardy and uses twin lights including a high intensity projector for a very distinctive Endurance look. Tyga also painted this as well to perfectly match the rest of the bodywork.

Having a bike with just all good looks was not going to do for Charles. The standard R wet clutch motor was dumped for a dry clutch SP motor that was custom built by Matt Patterson at Tyga.

This monster motor features Formula 3 cylinders and heads, ported, polished, balanced and blueprinted by Matt Patterson. Intake is handled by RS 250 38mm carburetors using RS throttle cables, manifolds and RS reed valves.

Tyga Performance also supplied the stainless steel race pipes with Carbon Kevlar silencers, the Formula 3 PGM II unit, Formula 3 close ratio gearbox, Formula 3 triple core radiator, Tyga lite upper cowl and mirror stay plus this custom made lightweight aluminum subframe that saves major pounds or kilos and works very nice with the new Tyga seat. All wiring was cleaned up and moved to the engine area for a much cleaner and simpler look.

The rear shock is a PENSKE 5 way adjustable unit. Super trick and super light. It is also adjustable for height. The rear sets are the latest type from Tyga and are set up for reverse race style shifting. Braking has been improved with Tyga steel braided brake lines. The oil pump and tank was removed. This NSR is fed with Castrol A747 premix at 30 : 1 with High octane gas and goes like a bat out of hell.

Super lightweight and engine power ratings at just over 70 Horsepower have transformed this NSR into one mean machine that can blow away the competition.

Charles has just recently purchased a full front Ohlins suspension complete with Brembo Mono-bloc calipers off of Brian Turfrey's PJ1 TZ250 race bike Future plans will see these incredible parts transplanted to this already amazing machine and more incredible modifications for perhaps the most incredible NSR 250 in the world !!
