Here is the LaserLite KZ84 frame the day I brought it home. I bought it from my friends shop in Japan who had this brand new frame and fork set in their shop since the middle 1980's. It was hanging from the ceiling and had collected some dust. Unfortunately this bike is now sold, but will have more information on it from the new owner who purchased it from me. Cheers!!

The stickers are different than the US/Canadian and European LaserLites. They appear to be the same as used on the Bravo and other mid to late 1980's freestyle Kuwahara models. This is how the late model (KZ84) Japan spec LaserLite stickers came. The headset says "Tange BMX125" and the locknut says "SunTour Superbe Japan" 104K - Click for full size image

The top and down tube on the KZ84 are also about 1cm longer than the KZ83 frame. The top tube of the KZ84 has oval tubing like the KZ83 but the bottom tube is totally round unlike the oval bottom tube of the KZ83.
The dropouts of this KZ84 LaserLite have the "K" mark stamped into them. My early model KZ83 does not have these marks. 81K - Click for full size image

The forks on my Japan spec KZ84 are totally different too. They are not oval and are completely round. Plus the bracket is totally different as well. 89K - Click for full size image

The rear brake bracket of my Japan Spec KZ84 LaserLite frame is stamped with the Kuwahara logo in it. My KZ83 frame does not have this mark in it. 117K - Click for full size image

Kuwahara is also stamped into the seat post tube on the left side of the frame. 75K - Click for full size image

This frame is a bit different than the North American, European and Australian models. It is a Japan spec KZ84 frame and fork kit which I bought NOS (New Old Stock) in Japan. According to my friend and who I also bought this frame from said that the last model LaserLites were only sold as frame and fork sets with no parts. The Kuwahara dealers back in those days would build the bikes up to their customers request with top of the line parts. The stickers are a mixture of early and late model Kuwahara bikes. I plan on building this LaserLite up too someday, but it might be a while as I still need to finish my KZ83 project not to mention I still have some work to do with my old KZ-1. I do promise to finish this build someday so please stay tuned.......I have already picked up a seat post and a used set of SunTour hubs for it.
