222K - Click for full size image The June/July 2009 Bike of the Month belongs to Ike-san from Aichi Prefecture in Japan.
Ike-san's bike started off as a 1992 SE model and over the years of driving his NSR all over Japan he has done several upgrades to improve its performance and looks. 201K - Click for full size image
249K - Click for full size image The old bodywork was not in the best shape and Ike-san wanted to update the looks a bit of the bike and located a Japanese made Honda RS250 upper and lower fairing made out of a very high quality fiberglass. To fit the RS fairing it was necessary for Ike-san to fabricate some one-off upper fairing and side fairing brackets.
A custom fitted projector light was added in the ram air duct for a clean look. The windscreen is a stock RS250 race unit and is very thin and light. The rear seat is from Silhouette Japan and Ike-san once again fabricated a one-off LED brake light for the seat along with a license plate eliminator kit and LED turn signals. The colors of this bike are based on the Boiling Blood (BB) race team in Japan with a CBR theme to it and really stand out. 161K - Click for full size image The engine was freshened up with a top end rebuild and derestricted with HARC-PRO SP race pipes and tuned carbs to match. The engine is kept cool by its HRC triple core radiator. With more power requires better brakes. The master cylinder was replaced with a Brembo radial unit, steel braided brake lines all around and high quality pads with rebuilt calipers.
The suspension of this bike was rebuilt by Japan's top motorcycle suspension tuning shop. Okumura Scuderia completely rebuilt the front forks and rear shock to match Ike-san's weight and riding style for one incredible handling NSR. An Ohlins steering damper was fitted as well to prevent any scary moments while riding hard on weekends or at the local track. 167K - Click for full size image
110K - Click for full size image Other extras are the beautifully polished Magtek wheels from an SP, beautifully polished frame and swingarm to an incredible mirror finish, billet rear sets, Dunlop sport tires, Silhouette Japan fenders, billet levers, custom made meters, titanium bolts all around and a whole lot more.
