The June 2003 Bike of the Month belongs to Jeff Szenftner from New Hampshire, USA.

Jeff had always wanted to buy a NSR after his good friend Dale picked up a 1991 R model early last year. Many sleepless nights had passed and finally a used 1993 NSR was located that needed some minor work.

This NSR was purchased from Trade and Deal last summer. When the bike arrived it did not run, but with Jeff being a motorcycle mechanic and the help of the Internet and some nice people on the NSR mailing list he had his NSR running for the first time.

A call to Apex Moto helped out with all kind of accessories and little goodies. Purple aluminum levers, Vortex clip ons anodized in gold. Apex Moto also supplied the Tyga GP rear seat cowl and Tyga lyte upper cowl stay.

The bodywork is stock MC28 bodywork with the exception of the Tyga GP tail. Jeff did the stripes and decals himself based on the 2001 Rossi Nastro Azzurro colors. A friend did the paintwork and the finished result is very nice and really makes the bike stand out.

A carbon fiber dash cover from a 1993 CBR900 is a direct bolt in and gives a much more racier look. Ethos preload adjusters for quick adjustments and other little anodized parts help out in the looks department. A steering damper from Daytona was added too.

Other performance upgrades are race pipes purchased from a NSR mailing lister, HRC carb kit, K and N filters and the bike was fully derestricted. Rebuilt front forks, stainless steel brake lines front and rear, Coerce rear sets, heavy duty clutch kit, Tyga carbon style rear fender and mini mirrors and turn signals.

Future plans will see a rear Ohlins or Fox T/C shock, new wheels and Michelin Pilot race tires have been purchased and will be installed very soon. Jeff uses this NSR as a daily driver and will do some occasional racing at the NHIS Speedway in Laconia, New Hampshire this summer. If you are in the area and spot Jeff make sure to say "Hi"
